Kashmiris across the globe observed Jammu Martyrs Day today and paid rich tributes to lakhs of martyrs executed by Hindu extremists aided by Dogra and Indian forces in 1947. Various seminars and conference took place on both sides of Line Of Control (LOC), however Indian forces today foiled a seminar which was to be held in the office of Tehreek-e-Hurriyat (TeH), headed Syed Ali Shah Geelani. Hurriyat spokeperson later issued a statement condemning the cordon. The seminar, which was to addressed by Syed A Geelani, was to remember the martyrs, he said, adding a large number of pro-freedom leaders besides social, religious and other intellectuals were to participate in the event. He said Geelani remained under house arrest since he was released from police station on Eid-ul-Azha day when he was not allowed to offer Eid prayers in a mosque.
In London, Chairman Kashmir Centre London Prof. Nazir Ahmed Shawl also paid glowing tributes to Jammu martyrs. Prof. Nazir Ahmed Shawl in a statement issued in London has said that this was a deliberate attempt to change the demography. Around five hundred thousand people became the victims of this immoral aggression, more than two hundred thousand men, women, and children were killed in cold blood and the rest had to leave their hearths and homes and find a refuge in Pakistan. This continues to remain the darkest chapter in the history of Jammu & Kashmir.
Prof. Nazir Ahmed Shawl has said, “ the best tribute to these Martyr’s is to reaffirm the resolve of vacating the Indian aggression in the state of Jammu & Kashmir and attain for its people the much deserved and promised right to Self-determination”.
The President of the Advisory Council of Kashmir Centre London Raja Mohammed Ayub along with Mr Sabir Hussain Chief Co-ordinator & Shoaib Nazish Media Advisor have also paid their respectful tributes to the Martyrs of Jammu.
APHC leader and the Chairman of Islamic Political Party Jammu and Kashmir, Mohammad Yousuf Naqash has said that the 6th November, 1947, is the gloomy day in the history of Jammu and Kashmir. He said that on 5th November announcements were made everywhere in Jammu asking Muslims to assemble in police lines where from they will be sent to Pakistan. On 6th November, Jammu Muslims including men women and children were seemingly dispatched towards Pakistan in trucks. But before they could reach the destination, Indian army, forces of maharaja and Hindu extremists at Samba Reasi and other places martyred them in gruesome manner.
Meanwhile, rebel group Lashkar e Toiba spokesman Dr Abdullah Gaznavi in a tele-statement to Greater Kashmir newspaper said, “More than five lakh Muslims were martyred between 4-6 November 1947. We need to remember the invaluable sacrifices rendered by them and should take the ongoing struggle to its logical conclusion.”
He said, “Kashmir struggle would continue till the goal is achieved. Kashmiris have been fighting for past six decades for their right to self determination and would continue their struggle.”
Dr Gaznavi urged people to remember sacrifices of the martyrs and carry forward their mission.
